🧭 Story-Based Time Travel Meditation
Meet Five Versions of Yourself. Unlock the Wisdom Already Inside You.
What if the clarity you've been searching for isn't somewhere out there — but buried in the stories you've already lived?
This guided meditation is an invitation to meet five versions of yourself: your very first job self, your mid-career turning point self, your present self, your twenty-years-from-now self, and your end-of-life self.
Together, they hold more wisdom than you might realize.
I'm Liz Morrison, a Story Coach who helps professionals use their personal stories — past, present, and possible — to navigate what's next with clarity and confidence. I call this practice Narrative Navigation, and this meditation is one of my favorite ways to begin the journey.
Whether you're at a career crossroads, craving a deeper sense of purpose, or simply feeling that quiet pull of "there's something more" — this meditation will help you slow down, listen inward, and start to see the patterns your stories have been trying to show you all along.
✨ A few things to help you get the most out of this experience:
Find a quiet, comfortable space. This meditation runs about 20–25 minutes. Give yourself permission to be fully here — no multitasking. A cozy chair, your bed, a pillow on the floor — whatever feels like a warm hug.
Close the tabs (literally and mentally). Put your phone on Do Not Disturb. Close your laptop. Let yourself be unreachable for a little while. You deserve that.
Keep a journal or notes app nearby. You're going to meet some pretty incredible versions of yourself, and you'll want to capture what comes up. Don't worry about writing beautifully — bullets, half-sentences, and voice memos all count.
It's okay to not have all the answers. If a question comes up and you draw a blank, tap into how you'd like it to feel. What kind of problems would you want to be solving? Who would you want to be with? Trust your inner wisdom — it knows more than you think.
Be gentle with yourself. Some of these time travels might stir up big emotions — joy, grief, pride, longing. That's all part of it. Let whatever comes up just be here with you.
🎬 Story-Based Time Travel Meditation with Liz Morrison
In this guided meditation, you'll visit five versions of yourself — from your very first job to your end-of-life self — and let them share wisdom with each other across time.
Duration: ~20–25 minutes
✍️ Take a moment to reflect and go deeper after the meditation
Welcome back. ✨
Now take a few minutes (or as long as you'd like) to sit with what came up. Here are three prompts to help you dig a little deeper into the wisdom you just uncovered:
📚 PAST: What surprised you most about meeting your younger selves?
Think about your first job self and your mid-career turning point self. What did you notice about who you were then — the hopes, the fears, the things that lit you up? Is there something from those earlier chapters that you've been carrying with you without realizing it? What qualities or lessons from those versions of you are still guiding you today?
🎯 PRESENT: What does your current self need to hear right now?
Your future self and your end-of-life self had wisdom to share with you. What stood out? If you could distill their advice into one sentence you'd tape to your bathroom mirror, what would it say? What's the one thing you already know deep down — that you just need to give yourself permission to act on?
✨ POSSIBLE: What's one small action you can take this week to move toward the future you just envisioned?
It doesn't have to be big. Maybe it's a conversation you need to have. A boundary you need to set. An application you've been sitting on. A creative project calling your name. What's one step that would make your twenty-years-from-now self proud?
If this meditation sparked something in you, I'd love to hear about it.
Sometimes all it takes is one powerful reflection to realize you're ready for what's next — but you don't have to figure it out alone.
I offer a complimentary 20-minute Direction Discovery Call where we can talk about where you are in your journey, what came up for you in this meditation, and how we might take those insights and turn them into your most aligned next chapter.
No pressure. No pitch. Just a real conversation about your story and where it's leading you.
I'm so grateful you took the time to do this. Your stories — past, present, and possible — hold more wisdom than you know.
And I can't wait to hear where they take you next. 🧭
